The tie is silk twill in bordeaux and pearl, in a puppytooth pattern: a small, broken check and the finer cousin of houndstooth. Twill's diagonal weave gives silk a soft sheen that suits lamplight. The check is fine enough that across a dinner table it reads as texture, and only up close does the pattern resolve.

The pocket square is printed in Macclesfield on pure silk, with an ivory hand rolled edge. Claret and teal scrollwork winds around two ivory medallions, framed by a dense, formal lattice border. Unfolded, it is closer to a mural than a motif.

Two patterns sit together happily when they differ in scale, and the gap here is wide: a fine check beside a broad, ornate paisley.
