The jacket is a wool, silk and linen hopsack in a rust check, with four kissing buttons, a ticket pocket and a full silk lining, made to order. The polo is extra-fine merino knitted at 30 gauge in England, a navy dark enough to read near-black under tailoring. The square reproduces Scotland Forever! by Lady Butler (Elizabeth Thompson), 1881, printed in Macclesfield.
The cavalry's red coats pick up the rust in the check, and the navy polo gives both a dark ground to stand on.
