The jacket is a Prince of Wales check in heavy 360g wool twill, yarn-dyed so the check runs through the cloth. Its grey carries a faint green, steely indoors and softer outside. The scarf is pure cashmere in a single scarlet, and the tie is navy and pearl silk twill, handmade in England.
The square is Dürer's 1513 engraving Knight, Death and the Devil, printed in Macclesfield in ivory and charcoal: a knight riding on, unbothered by the company he keeps. Grey, navy and the engraving hold everything back, so the scarlet makes its point alone.
