About This Pairing
The tie is a blue stripe grenadine in silk and wool, woven near Lake Como with the honeycomb texture that sets grenadine apart from a smooth silk. It is handmade in Italy. The square reproduces Turner's Venice, from the Porch of Madonna della Salute (c.1835), printed in Macclesfield: the Grand Canal dissolving into an amber afternoon.
The blues of the stripe sit inside the painting's water and sky, and the amber gives the pairing its warmth.
