Small framed squares in two blues, with a pale dot between each, march across a clean burgundy ground in careful rows. The silk has a fine twill and a gentle sheen, so the pattern stays crisp from across a room and gains texture up close. Burgundy is the most useful colour a tie can have: it keeps its composure with navy, grey and brown tailoring, and with a white or blue shirt.
