The tie's thicker yarns give the silk a slubbed, uneven surface, striped in navy, red and white and handmade in Italy. The square is madder silk, screen-printed in Macclesfield with the soft, chalky hand the fabric is known for, in ivory, crimson and blue.
Two silks with two different surfaces, the shantung's texture against the madder's flat print, held together by the red in the stripe and the crimson in the square.
