The tie is a traditional medallion, screen-printed in Macclesfield on madder silk, with the soft, chalky hand the fabric is known for. The square reproduces Mary Holdsworth's c.1950 map of France's wine regions, originally issued by the houses of Ayala Champagne, Croizet Brandy and Rocher Liqueurs.
The pairing is built on the reds: those running through the map pick up the burgundy in the tie, and the two settle into one tonal look.
