In another classic work from Frederic Remington, Aiding a Comrade displays a scene of high drama as one cowboy attempts to rescue his comrade who has fallen from his horse. Remington leaves the fate of the cowboy up to the imagination of the viewer, although the onrushing Native Americans firing at them provides an ominous background to the scene, and to the potential fate of the stricken cowboy.
