Our fine art silk jacket linings are what make a jacket truly unique. Adding a fine art lining to a jacket not only gives the jacket a stunning finish with a flash of colour as the jacket moves, but gives the jacket real meaning. Our silk jacket linings feature some stunning works from masters such as Canaletto, Giordano, Turner and Rubens. Our linings feature both landscape and portrait works which determines whether the jacket will feature a key central image across the back seam, or a scene that goes across the entire lining.
Our linings are manufactured in Macclesfield, which was once the centre of the English silk weaving industry and the world's biggest producer of finished silk. The area has been printing silk for over 300 years and at one point had over seventy mills operating in the town. The town is close to a water supply that passes through limestone, and when used in washing and dyeing it gives silk a uniquely attractive lustre. Our silk linings are printed at a mill that has been producing printed fabric on the same site for the past fifty years and the process uses water sourced from its own reservoir.
In 1539 Scabal’s mill in Huddersfield stopped grinding wheat and began to work with cloth for the first time. This historic moment laid the foundation to the Scabal of today that has evolved into a producer of the highest quality fabrics by experimenting with techniques, technology and materials in weaving.
This dedication to innovation allows them to create what they term their rare and elite fibres and combined with their natural production processes allow them to lift the colours from the fibres to produce truly elegant cloths. This has led Scabal to become the fabric supplier to some of the most prestigious tailors and textile businesses around the world.
With our tailored jackets, we set out to create jackets with a modern cut that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. With a classic notch lapel, two buttons, two flap pockets and two vents, these jackets are the cornerstone of a stylish outfit.
Our jackets feature a modern European cut with light padding on the shoulder to give the jacket some structure without being overly proud, while tapering at the waist to provide you with a stylish silhouette.
In addition to providing our jacketing fabric, we're delighted to work with Scabal of Savile Row, to produce a range of handmade wool and cashmere blend ties.
Through its dedication to innovation and quality, Scabal produces some of the finest cloths for bespoke tailors and textile businesses around the world. The true beauty of Scabal cloth comes from the subtle colours and designs that reveal themselves on closer inspection. In addition to this, the stability of the cloth means that it will always bounce back to its original form, making it perfect for handmade ties.
