John James Audubon, 1785 - 1851, Selby’s Flycatcher, Birds Of America © University Of Pittsburgh
This particular square uses an image of Selby’s Flycatcher by John James Audubon for the main image and we’ve used the exquisite flower detailing for our border. Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter known for his studies documenting American birds as well as the stunning illustrations that depicted the birds in their natural habitats. His greatest work was a book entitled The Birds of America (1827–1839) and this is still considered one of the finest ornithological works ever completed. We worked closely with the University Of Pittsburgh to gain access to one of the original copies of this book and have then chosen three separate birds to use on our range of Audubon inspire pocket squares.
This square looks great against a dark blue or grey jacket and is dynamic enough to be used in a number of situations or with a variety of outfits.
It adds a dash of colour while keeping a clean white finish and is a nice alternative to the classic flat white square you often see in office and wedding environments. We particularly like it in a puff fold to show the plant detailing against the white or a two or three point fold to show off the corner flowers.
